September 28, 2010 and other news

Meeting in Rua Red from 7.30 pm sharp until 9.30 pm on Tuesday, September 28. This Tuesday is League Competition judging.  Good luck to all participating members! The TPS is running a beginners’ class starting Monday, October 4 in the Tallaght Library (beside the Rua Red) from 7.00 pm until 8.00 pm.  This class is for TPS members only, is free of charge, and is well worth attending.  Any members wishing to attend, please give your name to Paul Maxwell at this Tuesday’s meeting. Eddie Byrne, a past member of the TPS is holding an exhibition of his work “6 Windows Photographic Exhibition” in the Moate Theatre, Abbey Street, Naas.  It is running from September 15th until October 30th and is well worth a look if you’re near or in Naas. TPS member, Podge Kelly, in assocation with Epson Ireland and Sheldon Photographic are running a Photographic Workshop covering modern photographic techniques from the production of an image and posing models (there will be models on the day) to hanging the finished print. 2010-2011 Monthly League

The first entry night for this years league competition takes place next Tuesday the 21st of September 2010. Each TPS member can enter three images (or one or two if they prefer). It is a great way to progress your photography and it is well worth entering, The rules are as follows: Entries for the monthly competition will be on the second to last Tuesday of each month, with judging taking place the following week on the last Tuesday of the month. There are 4 Divisions in the Club Competition Novice Intermediate Advanced Premier All members join the club as novices or intermediates (based on an initial grading) and are only promoted upon winning one section of the competition, or by gaining an IPF distinction. Likewise, only members who win a section of the Advanced Division are promoted to Premier division Each month, members submit up to 3 images for judging, 1 Colour Print, 1 Black and White Print and/or 1 Digital Image or Slide. Prints must be bigger than 10in x 8in and mounted on mountboard no larger than 20in x 16in. On the back of each print you should include: Your membership number (this will be given out […]

Meeting begins at 7:30 pm sharp in the Rua Red on Tuesday, September 21. This week it’s Monthly League Competition entry night!  Members can enter up to 3 images – 1 colour print, 1 black and white print and 1 digital image or slide (projected images).  Click on the Competitions tab above for competition rules. Good luck to all entrants! Tuesday is also movie night at the TPS this week as we are presenting “Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens”  an interesting documentary on the famous photographer. Meeting begins at 7:30 pm sharp in the Rua Red on Tuesday, September 14. It’s One-Shot competition time at Tuesday’s Tallaght Photographic Society meeting in the Rua Red.  TPS member, Scott MacBride was last May’s winner and chose this month’s theme which was “Jumping Portraits” and Scott will be judging this month’s entries.  Entries must be printed at about 10″ x 8″ or larger and do not have to be mounted.  The lucky winner will win a gift voucher for the Camera Centre and will also have the privilege of choosing next month’s One-Shot theme and judging the entries.  Good luck to all who enter! September 7th 2010

We’re back in the Rua Red for our first meeting of the season – so what’s on? Meeting begins at 7:30 pm with a welcome for new and old members. Introduction of new committee. Announcements of changes to monthly league competitions and one-shot competitions. Preview of 2010/2011 programme. The floor will be open for Q & As and discussions. Please bring your photos taken over the summer break! Entries for the One-shot competition have been put back until September 14 when they will be judged by Scott MacBride.  The theme is “Jumping Portraits” This season’s programme is still being finalised with some guest speakers to be confirmed.  Apologies for the delay and we’ll get it published as soon as possible.
