TPS Meeting – Tuesday, September 27th

Our first month back after the summer break has flown by…  Here we are, the last meeting of September already!  As usual, the last meeting of the month is reserved for our Monthly League Competition judging night.  The very best of luck to all the members who submitted entries last week.  Looking forward to seeing the images and hearing the judge’s comments! Our own TPS International Salon is also being judged this weekend (September 24th and 25th) at Bewley’s Hotel at Newland’s Cross.  Any volunteers would be welcome to help out with the process – and any members interested in seeing some of the images entered and how the judging process is done, are more than welcome to come along. Some members may remember Peter Gordon from Explore Light who did an excellent talk for the club last year.  Peter is releasing a book on landscape photography from Co Wicklow called Wild Garden.  Peter has invited us to the Wild Garden – Exhibition and Book Launch at the Centre for  Creative Practices (15, Pembroke Street Lower, Dublin 2) from 7 – 9pm on Thursday, October 6th.  Peter is a brilliant landscape photographer, creating some fantastic abstract images from nature.

TPS Meeting. Tuesday, September 13th

Next week we are taking entries for the Monthly League Competition – so this Tuesday, we will have a night on mounting prints for competitions.  Bring along your prints and mount them on the night.  Mounting board will also be available on the night! If you have a slide show of your images – bring it along and show off your stuff! We will also be viewing a slidshow of images taken by some of our members on a trip to Venice last year! Congratulations to Shane O’Keeffe, who won this month’s One-Shot Competition (see Shane’s winning image HERE) with the theme of “Things I did over the Summer” set by last May’s winner Catherine MacBride. Shane has nominated his theme for October’s One-Shot Competition as “Light“.  Images in print only, no smaller than 10 x 8 inches if possible and do not need to be mounted.  Entries are to be in on Tuesday October 4th and Shane will judge the winning image on the night! New members might be interested in the TPS Beginners’ Class beginning Monday, September 12th in the South Dublin County Library, Tallaght.  The class runs from 7.00pm until 8.00pm and will cover things like basic camera functions […]
