TPS outings to the Rock of Dunamase and Bull Island

This Sunday, June 28th, we’re off on a club outing to the Rock of Dunamase in Co Laois.  On the Rock stands the ruins of a 12th century castle which overlooks the surrounding Laois landscape!  We’ll be leaving early to avoid other visitors to the site so are meeting in Molloy’s car park at 9am sharp on Sunday morning!  All are welcome 🙂 Don’t let bad weather put you off going as dark clouds may add to the atmosphere over the ruins – but dress for the weather and be prepared for rain! On Tuesday, June 30th our outing is to Bull Island and the North Bull Wall.  There is also Dollymount Strand and its grassy sand dunes as an option.  We’re meeting as usual, in Molloy’s car park on Tuesday evening, 7.30pm sharp to car pool. Don’t forget your camera 🙂

We’re back to the sea side on our club outing this Tuesday, June 16th with a trip to Dalkey, Co Dublin.  At Dalkey we have the choice of Bullock Harbour, Colliemore Harbour and Dillon Park at the end of Colliemore Road.  At Bullock Harbour you might have the opportunity to photograph dusk over Dun Laoghaire or you can see Dalkey Island from Colliemore Harbour and Dillon Park. As usual we meet at Molloy’s car park to car pool and leave at 7.30pm. Don’t forget to enter the Tallaght Photographic Society Flickr group club outing photo competition.  Click our Flickr Group for more details! We had a great time last Sunday, June 7th on our day trip at the Saltees in Wexford.  15 members turned up for what turned out to be a fantastic day.  The weather was great and we got some awesome photos of puffins, gannets and other seabirds. We can look forward to another day trip on Sunday, June 28th to the Rock of Dunamase in Laois.  Located between Portlaoise and Stradbally, the Rock stands about 150 feet above the surrounding landscape and is home to the ruins of a 12th century castle.

Saltee Islands Trip and the Hellfire Club!

Avast me hearties! This Sunday, June 7th, we set sail for the Saltee Islands in search of photographic treasures!  Our intrepid adventure will begin in Molloy’s car park on Sunday morning. We must leave at 6.45am at the very latest as the boat leaves Kilmore Quay at 9am and it’s at least a 2 hour drive there.  If you’re not there by 6.45 you will miss the trip!  Please arrive early. The sea be a cruel mistress so we recommend that you bring a plastic refuse bag to keep your cameras and equipment dry on the boat.  If the sea is choppy, waves may splash onto the boat.  Dress comfortably and bring a raincoat just in case but so far, the weather looks to be dry for Sunday.  Wear walking boots or wellingtons as you might have to get your feet wet getting off the boat onto the island.  Bring a packed lunch and something to drink – a flagon of rum, yarrgh!.  We will be on the island for about 5 hours and there are no shops or cafés on the island and also no toilets!  The boat should return at about 3pm to pick us up and bring […]
