Tuesday, February 2nd – Guest Speaker: Greg Matthews

This Tuesday, February 2nd, the Tallaght Photographic Society is delighted to have along as our guest speaker, the wonderful Greg Matthews.  A retired fireman, Greg now captures incredible images of the streets of Dublin and the people within.  In 2015, Greg was awarded Irish Street Photographer of the Year and last June, launched an exhibition of his work at Film Base in Temple Bar.  You can see more of Greg’s work on his Flickr page! The meeting will take place at 8pm sharp in the Maldron Hotel. Tallaght and all are welcome!

January Monthly League Competition Judging

It’s time for our first monthly league competition of 2016 as next Tuesday, January 26th is league competition judging!!!  Our guest judge this month is John Cuddihy AIPF from Kilkenny Photographic Society.  A real gentleman and a great talent, John is a former President of the Irish Photographic Federation and is currently still a member of the IPF council as their Print & Projected & Nature Competitions Co-Ordinator. We kick off at 8pm sharp in the Maldron Hotel! The very best of luck to all who have entered the competition!

TPS: January 19th – League Entry and Guest Speaker

This Tuesday, January 19th we have guest speaker, Arthur Carron from Dundalk Photographic Society.  Arthur specialises in fashion, press, PR, wedding and corporate photography and also produces very creative portrait photographs.  Arthur will be treating us to a selection of his printed images on the night. It is also January’s league competition entry night this Tuesday so don’t forget to bring along your prints – one colour print and/or one monochrome print and one digital projected image.  The digital entry can be emailed to tpscompetitions@gmail.com or entered on the night on a USB stick, but must be entered by the end of the meeting on Tuesday night – any late submissions are not guaranteed entry.  Digital entries should be resized to no longer than 1200 pixels on the longest side and 240 dpi.  Please remember to rename the digital entry to include your membership no. division and image title i.e.  16023 – Novice – Ocean Sunrise. The meeting begins at 8pm in the Maldron Hotel.

Tuesday, January 12th – Guest Speaker: Patrick Kavanagh LIPF EFIAP

We’re in for a real treat this Tuesday, January 12th as we have a very special guest speaker, Patrick Kavanagh LIPF EFIAP.  Patrick is a member of Palmerstown Camera Club and did a fantastic job judging for us last September so we’re delighted to have him back to show us his fantastic work.  Patrick’s interests include taking images of seabirds and he also loves travel and environmental portraiture. This Tuesday we’ll also be taking entries for January’s one shot competition with the theme of “Trees” as chosen by last month’s winner, Paddy Sayers.  Paddy will take a look at the entries and pick his winner who will then go on to nominate the theme for February’s competition.  Good luck to everyone entering! The meeting will take place in the Maldron Hotel from 8pm sharp!

TPS International Salon of Photographic Art 2015 – Exhibition Launch

A very happy New Year to all of our members and friends.  Here’s hoping that you have all had a terrific Christmas and are looking forward to a 2016 filled with happiness and great photography! We’re kicking off 2016 this coming Tuesday, January 5th with the launch of the Tallaght Photographic Society International Salon of Photographic Art Exhibition at the County Library in Tallaght from 7.30pm.  This exhibition will feature photographs and images entered into 2015’s competition from photographers all over the world.  The winners of the Salon will also be announced and awards presented on the night. This is the 25th year that the TPS Salon has been running and is the oldest international photographic competition of its kind in Ireland. We are back in the Maldron Hotel on Tuesday, January 12th for our first meeting of the new year.  January 12th is entry night for our fun one shot competition.  January’s theme is “Trees” and the entries will be judged by December’s winner, Paddy Sayers.  The winner of the Trees competition will choose the theme for February! Looking forward to seeing you all there 🙂
