Tuesday 20th November 2017

This coming Tuesday we have Daragh Muldowney as our guest speaker. Daragh’s interest in photography originally developed, when he completed a Scuba Diving course in 1992, where he was awe struck by the experience of being under water. Life under the sea seemed like another world, where he made an instant connection with the elements. Shortly after Daragh bought a Canon camera and the rest as they say is history. Daragh has travelled far and wide from the Sahara to Iceland and has captured stunning images from these contrasting landscapes and Daragh will be showing some of these images with us on Tuesday. As we have a guest speaker please have your images mounted and labelled prior to bringing to the club as we do not want to disturb the speaker. Tuesday 24th October 2017

This Tuesday we have our very own Steve McGrane LIPF giving a talk on his recent trip to Cuba, Steve specialises in landscape photography and will be showing some of his images from Cuba and telling the story behind them. As usual there will be a good story behind the images and a few adventures along the way to get the shots Steve was after. Steve gave a talk last year in the club and it was one of the highlights of the year so it is sure to be a great night!! Tuesday is also league entry night. As usual there are 3 categories, printed colour, printed mono and a digital image that can be sent by email to or brought to the club on Tuesday on a pen drive.

Tuesday 17th October

This Tuesday our guest speaker will be Dublin based photographer Owen O’Connor. Owen is an award-winning photographer specialising in wedding photography, fashion photography and portraiture photography. Owen’s work has featured in many publications including The Star, Irish Tatler, Sunday World, Weddings Irish Style, The Irish Wedding Diary, The Examiner and Evening Herald. If you would like to visit Owens webpage here is a link The theme for the November “One Shot” has been chosen by last months winner Damian Rosiniki, the theme is “Timeless”. So get snapping, the one shot will be held on the 14th November. Damian will also pick the winning image.

Tuesday 10th October

This Tuesday we will be having a still life and table top photography night so bring your cameras. We will set up some props and take some shots and try to get some interesting images. So if you have something you think will make an interesting shot and it is small enough to fit on a table bring it along. If we have time we can maybe have a look at some of the shots taken on the night. Well done to Damian Rosinski who won Octobers one shot competition themed “Connected”, Damian will now pick the theme for Novembers One Shot competition. I will send on details once Damian decides the theme.

New Season, New Venue, New Time

Tallaght Photographic Society is delighted to announce that our new season will commence on 1st September 2009 at a new venue, RUA RED, in Tallaght.  RUA RED, a dynamic centre for arts in the Tallaght area, was opened in February of this year and will be our home for the 2009/2010 season. Our club meetings will be held, as usual, on Tuesday evenings but at the earlier start time of 7.30pm and finishing at 9.30pm. We will meet in the Performance Space in RUA RED which can accommodate up to 70 people. A great season is ahead of us with monthly competitions, guest speakers and practical workshops. New members are always welcome, just come along any Tuesday evening. Membership fee € 75 plus €2 at the door (including tea or coffee).

Fire Destroys TPS Clubhouse

Unfortunately, our Clubhouse in Tallaght was destroyed by fire on Saturday 11th April 2009 by an act of vandalism. Further details and images will be displayed over the next couple of days. Tuesday’s club meeting (14th April) will continue in the school, (many thanks to the management of the school for arranging access at short notice during the School holidays).
