Kevin took a gold medal in the projected theme section and Des took second place in the Mono open section, very well done to both.
This Tuesday we will looking at the set up for studio lights. Due to the interest from club members in the portrait nights we thought it would be a good idea to demonstrate how to set up the studio lights. So some of the more experienced club members who specialise in portraits will show how to go about setting up the lights. There will be no models so we will need a couple of “volunteers” to pose for a few shots. So bring your camera on Tuesday.
The club has a set of studio lights that are available to rent if anyone decides they would like to practice studio shots at home or elsewhere. The cost is €50 (€25 to rent and €25 deposit that will be returned once the lights are returned). For more info ask any of the committee members.
Tuesday will also see the start of the beginners course in Tallaght Library. Eddie Cody will run the course for 5 weeks starting Tuesday. The course is open to club members only and is a great way to learn about photography and improve your shots
The Tallaght Photographic Society International Salon of Photographic Art Exhibition 2017 will open on Tuesday the 10th of January in Tallaght library. The TPS Salon is Ireland’s longest running photography competition of its kind and has been running now for over 25 years. Photographers from around the world enter the salon every year and the standard of the images is truly outstanding.
We will not be meeting in the Maldron hotel on Tuesday but rather we will be attending the opening of the salon exhibition. The exhibition will open at 7pm in the library and will run for a couple of weeks so if you cannot make it on Tuesday you will still be able to view the exhibition for a couple of weeks.
It takes a great deal of work to organise the salon and setup the exhibition so a big thank you to all on the salon committee and volunteers who have put the salon together for 2017.
TPS will meet back again in the Maldron on Tuesday the 3rd Jan when we will have a look at some of your images taken over the Christmas break so if you have some images please bring them along on a pen drive, 10-15 images should be enough, that way we can get to look at more peoples images. We also have some free dates on the calendar in the coming year so if you have some area of photography that you would like to focus on or have any ideas please suggest them on Tuesday so that the committee can try and arrange some nights around that topic.
For example, the portrait nights have been a great success and people mentioned they would like to see how to set up he lights so we will have an evening going through the light set up.
The following week we will not be meeting at the Maldron. On Tuesday the 10th Jan the TPS International Salon will take place in Tallaght Library located close to the square. This is a great event to attend and see the fantastic standard of images entered into the salon from around the world. Images will be displayed and there will be a prize giving ceremony, I am sure it will be a great night.
