This Tuesday we will be heading to Carton House in Maynooth. Located 20 minutes from Dublin Carton House is a 1,100 acre parkland estate with lots of interesting photo opportunities. There is the iconic picturesque boathouse and the Tyrconnell Tower as well as Carton House it self which is a fine example of a Georgian Mansion.
The grounds and parkland with its lakes and waterways will make for some nice shots also.
We will meet at Molloys at 7.30 sharp and can car pool if necessary.
This Tuesday we will be heading to the Phoenix Park for our weekly outing.
The Phoenix Park is a huge park covering 707 hectares and there is plenty to see there. There is the Wellington Monument, the tallest obelisk in Europe, the papal cross which is another impressive structure. There is of course the Aras, home to President Higgins, and many other interesting buildings.
Wildlife in the park include Fallow Deer which roam the park and are quite tame so no need for huge lenses, Woodpeckers have been seen in the woods and there are resident Buzzards & Sparrow hawks. So all in all plenty to see and photograph. The weather forecast is looking good so hopefully there will be a nice sunset.
This Tuesday we will be heading to Howth Harbour. There is lots to do and see in Howth (and photograph). There is the harbour itself and the famous lighthouse. There are interesting tracks around Howth head that give interesting views of the lighthouse and there is the chance of getting a nice seascape shot.
Howth is ideally situated to get a good sunset shot so hopefully we will have a nice sunset tomorrow.
This Tuesday we will be heading to the Grand Canal Basin. The Grand Canal Theatre, Conference Centre and the Samuel Beckett bridge can all be photographed in the same night without having to travel to far.
When it gets dark these attractions are lit up with some fantastic lighting and you can try and capture the buildings & reflections in the surrounding water.
As usual we will meet at Malloy’s car park 7.30 sharp.
This Tuesday we will be heading to Lough Bray & Glencree, Co Wicklow. Not too far from Dublin, beside the Military Road (R115) is Glencree, a beautiful mini-lakeland. Lough Bray is actually two lakes, Upper and Lower, gouged from the granite by a glacier millennia ago. There should be plenty of opportunities for some great shots.
Being the Wicklow mountains there surely will be midge about so bring some insect repellent.
